Habitat: a true mountain-lover, ibex keep to the steep slopes which offer them safety. They can climb almost vertical rock faces.
In the Pyrenees: hardly any Pyrenean ibex are left. Exterminated by hunting in France, this mountain animal survives in the Ordesa massif, Spain. An experimental programme to reintroduce ibex is currently underway, as the Pyrenean species is virtually extinct. |
