  Ski  Discover Pyrenean ski resorts
It was in 1904 that someone first tried on a pair of skis in the Pyrenees. Very quickly, the sport became popular among the upper classes. Jumping and downhill competitions followed. Luxury hotels were built in Font-Romeu and Superbagnères. In the 1960s, skiing became more widespread as its popularity rose.

Following the example of François Vignole, Pyrenean skiers Annie Famose and Isabelle Mir became ski champions. Today, the French Pyrenees offer around forty ski resorts and 2,000 km of cross-country skiing trails.

  Thermalism Discover Pyrenean spas.
The number and diversity of Pyrenean hot springs are unique in the world. Their virtues were known back in Antiquity. In the 19th century, spa towns were popular among the aristocracy. Their popularity then spread across class barriers.
There are spas throughout the Pyrenees. Some drive the local economy, but today's thermalism must gear itself to the new health and fitness market.
